Advantages Of Night Fishing

by Danny Chan

Most fishing enthusiasts are inclined to indulge in their hobby during the daylight hours. They seldom do it at night as it is not human nature to be active at night. However, there is a growing number of anglers who are taking up night fishing as they discover the benefits to doing so.

Firstly, since there are generally less people who are willing to fish at night, you will not have other anglers competing with you for a catch. It means you will have a lot of room to maneuver and explore. All this results in is a higher probability of you hauling home more fish.

Anyone who fishes in the day would have experienced the harsh weather conditions that might exist. This includes the risk of sunburn or even dehydration due to the heat. These are not present when doing the same thing at night. You might only have to worry about catching a chill instead.

On calmer nights, the lack of wind or even a cool breeze can contribute a huge difference to your resulting catch. The waters will be calmer and this allows for less agitation of the fish. You will find them more likely to hook on to your lures if you do so correctly.

Fish often rely more on their sense of smell when there is lack of light even in the water. This can be advantageous to any angler since they are more likely to be drawn to the smell of food in the form of your bait. It also means they are less likely to observe the hook or line being used and fall into the trap.

If you are aware of a fish's feeding frenzy, then this is another advantage you can have when preying on them under night cover. Since they cannot see well and just depend on smell, once you have gotten them coming together, it is a piece of cake having a complete and healthy haul.

There are some slight inconveniences when engaging in such an activity. Night fishers will have to take more safety precautions mainly due to the lack of light sources. You must not rely on them too much if great results are expected. This increases the likelihood of accidents that might occur when one cannot see clearly.

Despite some of these issues being worthy of concern, they can be sufficiently pre-empted by bringing along proper lighting equipment as well as thorough checks of all boat equipment and accessories ahead of the trip. They will help put your mind at ease and have a much more enjoyable fishing jaunt under the moonlight.
