One of my Favorite parts of being a freelance writer is the Diversity of events I get to cover. On Sunday April 20Th 2008, One such Event was the St. Patrick School Car Show in Smithtown NY. When I arrived the host of the Event John Forlenza welcomed me in and thanked me for Covering the event.

One of the First things that caught my eye was the "Dukes of Hazzard" General Lee Replica Charger, I even got to sit in it Yee Haw!!! Then I was off walking around Checking everything out like the Kyle Petty and Dale Earnhardt Replica NASCAR's, The 007 Lotus Esprit Submarine from the Movie "The Spy who Loved Me" ,The Billy Joel Motorcycle Collection presented by Light House H-D, Monster Trucks, Classic and Modern Cars and Hot-Rods, KITT from the TV show Knight Rider (KITT is a little Conceded in person as he wouldn't even talk to me!!!) Herbie the Love Bug, The Batmobile and so much more!

I also Got to See "Elvis" perform a Couple of Songs Live! This event was planned out well for the Men who's wives' and Kids aren't into Cars! To keep them busy while Dad walked around checking everything out the Wives and Kids in attendance got to enjoy the air Bouncer, air Slides, shows,Food and the many vendors On hand!

I got to meet and say Hi to the Men and Women of the Exceeding Limits Truck Club and I also got to meet New friends of mine Chris and Mike from Motormouth Radio, Check them out at motormouthradio.com .

Use good quality replacement bearings.

Similar to any machine with wheels, skateboards have bearings too. Even though considered a skilled sport, manufacturing skateboards and their parts are still largely influenced by street culture. The bearings are the metal inside the wheels that bear all the weight of the person and the skateboard combined but also provide for highest mobility. Good quality bearings are vital for a good board as they assist to give you a smooth ride.

There are no particular standard rating guidelines for skateboard bearings. The most familiar types of bearings are wheel bearings. By distinct comparison, professional skateboarders estimate the precision of the bearings and know that the good ones fall under 3 or 5, using the ABEC system of rating bearings used in machines. These bearings can give you an even ride but at the same time, they are strong enough to bear the force when you jump on your board. But not all manufacturers consider the ABEC when producing skateboard bearings. You wouldnt really know their performance until you try them out yourself.

You may ask for help in replacing the bearings on your skateboard, at the store. But the process is quite simple. You can do it yourself, using a skate key. If you dont have one, a screwdriver will be okay. Then, using the screwdriver, pry out the old bearings from the wheels. Then, take the new bearing and place it at the end of the skate key or screwdriver. Push the bearing into the wheel with even pressure. Repeat the process on other wheel as well. Now put those on the tracks and youre job is finished.

Correct maintenance of the ball bearings is the key to ensure they dont give you any troubles. Bad bearings usually are the causes of the clunking noises you hear as you rotate the wheel or the rough feel on the wheel. One problem with ball bearings is that they can rub against each other, causing additional friction, but this can be prevented by placing the balls in a cage and greatly lubricate them. The bearings are likely to wear over time, and you cant really do anything about it but to replace them. It is advised that you find the similar quality, as some lower quality wheel bearings may not keep up with your original ball bearings, and you may end up ruining your skateboard.

IT Training Providers - How Can I Compare Them?

If you're searching for IT training providers, it's logical that you are looking for some options of who to train with. So let's put in writing a few statements to check we're on the same wavelength, and then look at the choices available:

* Your new training is to get a job.

* You're in search of quality training that's thorough and doesn't miss anything out so you'll feel capable in your new job.

* You appreciate that the qualifications you get must be able to get you short-listed for interview.

* Ideally you would like a provider who can offer you the right advice, quality training, decent support, and whose charges are reasonable.

So what are your options to choose from? If you're looking for qualifications to make you employable in the IT Industry, we recommend you avoid universities. Make sure you see their training materials, and decide for yourself whether you can learn from them. If you're given some excuse why you can't be shown them, think if it's wise to train with them?

An Overview of Adobe Photoshop CS4

It appears as Adobe are evolving they're getting better and better. CS3 showed us new features such as non-destructive smart filters, quick selection, 3D compositing, enhanced RAW image processing and HDR support.

Adobe's new software, Creative Suite 4, is intended to meet special challenges such as effective collaborations between designers and developers, embracing new media, reinventing publishing and embracing the explosion of connected media. Chad Seigel, Group Manager for Creative Suite has been quoted as saying, "Adobe is trying to break barriers and integrate all products."

Improvements to Photoshop CS4 include an enhanced user interface with the entire application enclosed in the frame, meaning that dual monitor users can have more than one application running. The workspace switcher is for swapping between applications such as Camera RAW 5 and Bridge.

Some welcome improvements include zoom ratio which is less likely to show jagged or pixelated lines and also boasts a flicker free zoom. You can also now rotate the canvas without jagged lines and the brush size can be previewed on the document. This means that when the tool is placed over the image it can be moved in size and allows you to see it before you use it.

The Dodge/Burn tool has been improved so when you're adjusting the shadows, midtones or highlights the tool won't impose on the other two. When adjusting the saturation on the sponge tool it won't move out of acceptable gamma.

Adjustment has a dedicated window with all the tools found in the area such as levels, curves, brightness & contrast and exposure. The preview window is in the tab instead of a new window that overlaps the image. This means your picture can be viewed in its entirety and as an added bonus tools such as curves can be adjusted directly on the image for localised amendments.

The icons are simplified for efficient use meaning you can see what you want to do a lot faster than before.

Another part of the CS3 features that has been improved is the clone tool. When your area is selected by stamping on it, a preview of the selected area will show on your brush. Therefore, if you're cloning small detail items or subjects such as bricks you can now line them up easier.

The mask panel allows you to select an area which can be manipulated and even inverted which is good for selective color images.

A feature I really like is content aware cropping. The feature works by first masking the areas you wish to retain in the picture. The image can then be resized and the parts that are protected won't be cropped into. The program will start to remove areas in between which is an amazing feature to see and use.

An improved blend layer mode has been added and is great for techniques such as focus stacking. The program adjusts the exposure and color automatically so there's no need to mess about first.

Please note that the images must be loaded in as layers and highlighted. Once you have done that click on Edit>Auto blend layers and the images will be composited together. Also note that you must be patient as the process can take some time.

It can also be useful to create HDR images if you prefer the ones without the ethereal effect that most systems produce.

Photoshop Product Manager, Bryan Hughes, is quite adamant that this isn't a HDR tool as it doesn't give a full high dynamic range in all areas so the familiar ethereal look of a HDR image is absent. He added that if need be it could be described as a clipped version of HDR.

The Extended version of Photoshop CS4 also features support for 3D. Two dimensional images can be changed to 3D by giving them x, y and z co-ordinates and these images can also be wrapped around imported 3D images. Photoshop CS4 also works in conjunction with Google 3D warehouse where you can import thousands of 3D images. Merging a 2D image onto a 3D image is simple as the only command you need use is the Merge button. The 2D layer acquires all the 3D attributes such as decay detail, color and reflections. The 3D image can be manipulated as well and you can also enjoy features such as creating cut-outs, adding detail or changing colors to the interior of the cut-out.

Another great feature has been added for help with people who are color blind. Colors in Photoshop CS4 can now be adjusted for true color blindness.

One thing I don't like is the removal of the quick tools from the image window bar. When you've opened an image, right clicking on the header bar will bring up five options of duplicate, image size, canvas size, file info for metadata and page set up. I used these a lot, especially file info and to find it's not there adds time to my workflow.

Regardless, at the press release for Photoshop CS4 I was incredibly excited when I saw the new features. The latest features such as the auto blend and content aware cropping feature are astounding. I also enjoy using the localized adjustments on Lightroom 2 so it'll be really beneficial on Photoshop CS4.

Check out the upgrades box and see if you'll use all those extra features. Add to that the efficient zooming and 89 percent less drag on the mouse making it move across the screen faster.

Bear in mind that the list is for the Extended version which supports the 3D applications. If you don't need those then don't bother with Extended but as far as I'm concerned this new version is the best one yet.

Can You Get Car Rental Even if You Don't Have Driver's Insurance?

Something that concerns a lot of individuals looking to rent cars is whether or not they can rent the car without having their own driver's insurance. Why would someone not already have driver's insurance? Well, they may live in a city in which their own transportation is not needed, so they use public transportation. This may mean that they don't have a car. However, they may have their license.

Most individuals who have cars have driver's insurance. But once in a while there is that person who comes to the car rental establishment and they don't have a car. That means they don't have insurance. So what does that mean for them when wanting to rent a car? Are they going to be able to rent the car? The answer might surprise you.

No insurance?

So let's say you walk into your local car rentals place and you tell them you don't have insurance. Do you think they're going to look at you like you're a terrible person? The truth is that they won't. They're not going to look at you like you're terrible because there are plenty of people who walk into their establishment and they don't have insurance.

Here is how they do it:

- The car rental establishment will make a copy of your driver's license. From there they will then tell you what your options are. They may also offer you other things that you may or may not need, so make sure you're not going to end up paying for things that you don't need.

- If you tell them that you don't have driver's insurance, then they will let you know that they have an insurance plan for you. You will have to purchase that insurance plan if you don't have insurance of your own or your insurance doesn't cover rental cars.

That's another issue - that some insurance companies may not cover rental cars. This has to do with what sort of insurance you have taken out with them. If you have a full coverage plan, you can expect that a rental car is going to be covered. If you have a liability plan, you need to look closely at what you have purchased. Either way, you're going to have to provide the car rental business with a copy of your insurance card.

But if you don't have an insurance card, that's alright. They will offer you their own insurance, which will cover you while you rent the car. The prices will vary based on the business you decide to do business with. So if you don't have driver's insurance, make sure you make this part of the deal when shopping around for a company. Make sure you find the best rate or you may find you're paying more for insurance than what you need to.

Problem solved

So now you can see how easy it is to solve the problem. If you don't have driver's insurance, that is definitely not an issue. If you have a license, then you're in business. The only reason why someone should have to worry about not being able to rent a car is if they are too young or they are not licensed to drive. Other than those two things, you should be fine when it comes to renting a car anywhere in the world. So at least you now know that you don't have to worry if you need to rent a car and you have no insurance. That is just one more thing that you can add to the things that you know.

Alcoholism: A Disease that Affects the Entire Family

Alcoholism involves every member of the family; how else do you explain the fact that children who come into Alateen rooms generally report that they have more problems dealing with the non-drinking parent than they do the alcoholic.

What? But I don't have a problem! He... him... he's the alcoholic! He's the one who causes all the problems! He's the one in trouble all the time ...

Everyone who has dealt with an alcoholic knows that the alcoholic is a predictable creature. Kids can read an alcoholic like a book. Kids know when it's the right time to ask for an advance on their allowance, or if they can go out with their friends; they also know when it's time to get out of the way and make themselves scarce. Kids understand the routine as far as the alcoholic is concerned. However, they never know where the non-drinking parent is coming from next.

One minute she (or he as the case may be) is screaming at the alcoholic -- threatening him with everything from from divorce to death -- and the next minute she may be compassionately rescuing him from the consequences of his latest episode -- dutifully cleaning up his messes, making excuses for him and accepting an increasing degree of unacceptable behavior.

The truth is the disease of alcoholism has affected her life, her attitude and her thinking perhaps more dramatically than it has the drinking spouse and she may not even realize it. Why? Because it crept up on her slowly.

Frog In The Water A few years back, there was a story going around the 12-step rooms about a frog in the water. It goes like this:

If you put a frog into a pan of boiling water, it will jump out faster than the eye can see. But if you put the frog into a pan of water that is the frog's body temperature and then slowly turn up the heat the frog will stay in the water -- even to the point of boiling alive. Why? Because the frog does not notice the gradual change in temperature.

Alcoholism works the same way... the heat is constantly turned up but nobody notices. Cunning and baffling! A progressive disease. It may start out with casually accepting unacceptable behavior -- Oh, he didn't mean that, he just had too much to drink last night. A few years down the road the behavior has slowly grown more and more intolerable, but it is still being accepted and becomes the "norm."

What you end up with is chaos in your home that a few short years ago would have been unthinkable. If you looked out the window and saw the same kind of things taking place across the street at the neighbor's house, you undoubtedly would pick up the phone and call 9-1-1 to get those people some help!

An Insidious Disease As the behavior becomes a daily routine, the last thing that occurs to those of us who live in this situation is to pick up the telephone and get help. We are inexorably drawn into the belief that the alcoholic should be protected. We learn to cover for him, lie for him and hide the truth. We learn to keep secrets, no matter how bad the chaos and insanity all around us has become.

Few who have been affected by the disease of alcoholism realize that by "protecting" the alcoholic with little lies and deceptions to the outside world, which have slowly but surely increased in size and dimension, she has actually created a situation that makes it easier for him to continue -- and progress -- in his downward spiral. Rather than help the alcoholic, and herself, she has actually enabled him to get worse.

The heat increased so slowly, over such an extended period of time, nobody realized the water was beginning to boil and it was time to jump out of the pan.

The disease will continue to progress for the alcoholic until he is ready to reach out and get help for himself. Waiting for the alcoholic to reach out is not the family's only choice.

Other family members can begin to recover whether the alcoholic is still drinking or not. But it can't happen until somebody picks up the telephone and asks for help. There is hope and help out there.

A Bikers Tale: Son Of Pappy

Many of you out there probably do not know that I L.J. James am the Son of Pappy (Freelance writer on the Biker Lifestyle) ! Hell I didn't know till 1986,Well I knew I just didn't know him! Pappy an my Mother got separated when I was young and I didn't see Pappy from around 76 till 86. When I met him he wasn't even known as Pappy yet! That came later.

I had lived with my Mother an step-Father on Long Island in NY till the Summer of 86. I had always been into Bikes and the life style. Many times after getting into some kind of trouble I would hear the saying "He is just like his Father". Little did I know at the time just how true it really was! After getting into some more teenage trouble (you know the deal Drinking,Staying out late, getting brought home by the cops 2 or 3 times). My Mother figured it was time for me to meet my Father. So in the Summer of 86 at the age of 15, I found myself flying up to Rochester NY to meet my Father!

When I first met Pappy He owned a large House and He rented out rooms in the house to College kids and other Bikers. Almost as soon as I got there Pappy started teaching me to Ride a Motorcycle and probably just as important if not more, what the words Respect, Honesty , Loyalty and Brotherhood mean in the Biker World. I still remember clearly one time at a John Fogarty Concert. Me, Pappy and a few other Bikers where in the parking lot looking at Motorcycles. I saw this really cool bike with this paint job that was just unbelievable, I went to touch it and Pappy grabbed my hand looked at me in the eyes and told me "Never touch another mans Bike without his permission" and till this day I never have.

The House Pappy owend was well known by many of the Bikers in the area and was the place many large party's where held, It was not uncommon to find a bunch of Bikers sleeping in the living room any given morning. These Bikers where family to me and when they said "He is just like his Father" it gave me a feeling of over whelming pride! I have always loved hearing the stories these true Brothers of the biker world would tell me. I feel the old Biker stories need to be saved and told over and over again.

New Motorcycle Riders are learning about Biker history from old 1960's Biker Gang movies that have no historic truth to them. Just like with any culture if you lose your true history you lose what you really are! I feel the only way to return the Biker world to its true origin is to keep the old stories alive ! Too many "Bikers" complain that the younger Motorcycle Riders of today have no idea what it means to be a Biker! Well I think maybe the problem is that some of the older Bikers never really knew what it meant to be a Biker, Because if they did they would know its their job to teach the next generation! A new Motorcycle Rider must know what the Spirit of Biker Brotherhood is before he can truly feel it and become a part of it. (Maybe that's part of why I became a writer?)

I said at the Beginning of this story Pappy was not yet known as Pappy and I would tell you how that came to be. Well if you remember the Summer of 86 you will remember the Karate Kid Movie was a Big Hit and was on HBO like 10 times a day,Well as far as I could remember I had never called anyone Dad or Father or anything like that. In the Karate Kid they called each other miyagi san and Daniel san! Well thinking I was clever I started calling my Father "Pappy san", He in turn started calling me Son of Pappy and soon after everyone started calling Him Pappy!

Now many of You maybe wondering why the Hell am I telling you all this. Well like I have said there are many Motorcycle riders these days that have no clue what Biker Brotherhood really is. I think it is important that they know this is not something you buy into, But something you grow into. Too many buy a Motorcycle and then do nothing but talk, They are only there for you if you have something to offer them. There are very few true Bikers left, Bikers are being replaced by Motorcycle enthusiasts and part of it is our own fault! I write this story in hopes it will help spread the word that only the true old School bikers can teach the younger generation the true meaning of Biker Brotherhood.

Silver Certificates: Is A 1957 Silver Certificate Valuable?

The 1957 Silver Certificate is a type of paper money that was once printed in the United States, equal and redeemable for an equivalent quantity of silver bullion. This $1 certificate was part of what was recognized as the small-note series. Starting with the 1928 series, all U.S. paper currency was decreased in size to bring down costs and to accelerate the rate of transactions.

Before 1934, silver certificates were redeemable for actual silver dollars. However, Congress passed legislation in 1934 that allowed the government to exchange a certificate for silver bullion and not specifically silver dollars.

In the 1940's and 1950's, silver certificates began to disappear from circulation. The number of notes in circulation depended upon the amount of silver bullion that was contained in the vaults of the U.S. Treasury. Less silver was being produced. So, when a note was redeemed for silver bullion or dollars, it was shredded. It could not be put back into circulation unless the amount of silver being produced was increased.

The 1957 Silver Certificate is one of the most common certificate dates. There are many rare silver certificates that are valued at more than $200. This is not the case with the 1957 version. According to the most recent Black Book figures, the retail value for this particular date is perhaps $5.00 or $6.00 in crisp, uncirculated condition. In circulated condition, it is worth just a little over face value.

Always keep in mind that the figures quoted in various coin books are for retail value. A dealer would tend to offer less, anywhere from twenty to forty percent lower than the retail price.

The remedies I have mentioned in this article are only the tip of the iceberg and with a little research, you'll find a wealth of others which you may wish to try.

While a few of these remedies seem a bit outlandish, you might be surprised at how effective they actually are. So, grab some garlic or a lemon or two, and get started on those nasty pimples, the right acne remedy is out there, and it is probably in your refrigerator!
