In fact, if there was a list of the world's ten most offensive smells, it probably has a good chance of topping the list. This foul odor comes mainly from the sulfur produced with intestinal gas. But did you know that this same sulfur is the culprit in most cases of bad breath?<br />
<br />
What causes this sulfuric smell? It is anaerobic bacteria which is the culprit and which lives and thrives in an oxygen free place. These bacteria feed on food debris which is left in the mouth after eating and drinking. They break down the food particles and as the food gets digested by them, they emit sulfur which mixes with your exhaled breath and comes out from your mouth. If people around you get the smell they will avoid you, and some people may even tell you that you suffer from bad breath and even offer you a minty sweet. How can you get rid of this problem? There are six methods to free yourself from this problem.<br />
<br />
Floss daily. No matter how well or how often you brush your teeth, some food particles will still stay stuck in between your teeth, away from the reach of your toothbrush's bristles. If left in the mouth for a long time, these food particles will attract the odor-causing bacteria. Flossing is the only solution to get rid of these efficiently.<br />
<br />
Brush your teeth after meals. Ideally, you should brush your teeth after every meal, including snacks. However, this is not feasible for most people so the norm has been to brush once in the morning and once more before bedtime. If you are unable to brush during the day for some reason, make sure that you rinse your mouth well with clean water after eating, even it it's just a small cupcake or a slice of pizza.<br />

Scrape and brush your tongue. This is quite possibly one of the most overlooked dental hygiene activities. It is, however, proven that the bacteria that break down any food particles left over in your mouth also thrive around the bumps on the back of your tongue. Go ahead and take a teaspoon and turn it over so that the hollow side points to your tongue. Now go ahead and gently scrape the back of your tongue. Chances are that you will see a whitish substance. These are the bacteria that have been thriving in your mouth and that produce the sulfuric bad smell. Regular scraping and brushing of the back of your tongue will greatly cut down on the amount of bacteria that can emit such gas.<br />
<br />
Increase your water intake. Saliva flow in the mouth is not always sufficient to keep the malodorous bacteria away. Because of this, it is essential that you supplement this deficiency by increasing your water intake. Ideally, 8 glasses spread throughout the day is enough. However, you may need up to 10 glasses daily if you are taking medications that cause dry mouth. <br />
<br />
Stay away from alcohol based mouthwashes and sugary gums. It is hard to believe, but even though almost all mouthwashes will rid you, at least temporarily, of the bacteria that cause the bad odors, the alcohol based ones actually tend to dry out the inside of your mouth, thus creating the very absence of saliva that is beneficial for continuous flushing of undesirable bacteria. Look for other alternatives. Sugary gums on the other hand create an environment that is exceedingly bacteria friendly by offering them the very food substance, sugar, they cannot resist. So instead of doing something good for your mouth, you are actually doing the very opposite! Stay with the sugarless version of gums, and your teeth and breath will thank you.<br />
<br />
If you are a bad breath sufferer, you should keep your dentist's number handy. Make and keep regular appointments with the dentist, so that you can prevent any further problems which may increase the chances of getting bad breath. And your dentist is the best person who can advise you as to further treatments to get rid of bad breath which will not go away just by brushing, flossing, and scraping.</div><div class='uawresource'><div style='font-style:italic;' class='uawabout'><br />

<h2 class = 'uawtitle'>Does Your Child Argue About Everything? Maybe He's Got ODD</h2><div style='font-style:italic;' class='uawbyline'>by Matt Hellstrom</div><div class='uawarticle'><br />Parenting 5 adopted children has caused me over the years to become if not not well versed, at least well read on issues we may encounter. So in this research it is no great surprise that I included Oppositional Defiance Disorder, aka ODD. While looking further into this, I discovered a resource called the Total Transformation Program by Dr. James Lehman, behavioral therapist. When I read his description of a day with an ODD kid - ongoing arguing in an unknown battle beginning with waking up in the morning and continuing well past their bedtime - I knew I had to learn more.<br />
<br />
What is Oppositional Defiance Disorder?<br />
<br />
Best to start with what it looks like. These kids don't cope well, tempers easily and frequently flare. They resent authority figures, forcefully boss other children around, and are often annoyed and frustrated. Blaming everyone but themselves for situations they've created. They also tend to pick friends who also have these characteristics, which tend to be angry, pouting teens.<br />
<br />
There is very little chance of being logical with ODD kiddos because of their irrationality, so they always feel they are left wanting. But when you give them what they say they want (like your attention), they are quick to tell you to back off. Sadly, they are hard ones to like, which adds to parental guilt because you know you love them but can't stand to be in the same room/house with them. And any outside social interactions involving the out of control child are embarrassing.<br />
<br />
I understand this because I have a few children that fall into this camp. The emotions of raising an ODD kid are difficult to handle.<br />
<br />
Where did the Oppositional Defiance Disorder come from?<br />
<br />
ODD is not a self-esteem issue; it's a problem solving issue. In a nutshell, they don't know how to solve a problem, so they try to gain control by bullying, screaming, negotiating, or bargaining. According to Dr. Lehman, there is no evidence that self-esteem leads to compliance, and emotions are not, in and of themselves, a way for kids to cope with their problems.<br />
<br />
Is there any ODD treatment?<br />
<br />
Dr. Lehman says that one thing to definitely not do is to give the child a time out. A child with ODD won't use the time out to change his thinking - he'll use it to plot revenge. Parents need to change their parenting style to deal with a kid with oppositional defiance behavior. Here are 4 tips that he suggests. You can find many more in his wonderful program The Total Transformation. I just can't describe how much good its done for our family.<br />
<br />
1. Children with ODD need structure with aggressive training that is built around how to solve the problems that trigger their defiant behavior. You need to show the child that he has a problem that has to be solved and address it as such. For example: Lying in bed after your alarm goes off won't solve your problem. It makes you late and you miss the bus. What can you do to solve your problem?<br />
<br />
2. The focus of treatment needs to be on developing compliance and coping skills, not primarily on self-esteem. Kids get self-esteem by doing things that are hard for them. Children with ODD need strong praise and support as well as realistic rewards. A pat on the back for something they should already know how to do doesn't cut it.<br />
<br />
3. Power struggles are a no-win situation for either of you. Select your battles with this in mind - you only are going to participate in the ones you will definitely win. Like not participating in the arguing. Now you are ready to share your expectations in an unemotional way with the understanding that compliance is the expected outcome.<br />
<br />
4. Have a plan for managing your childs behavior. When you're in the car, know what you'll do if he acts out there. Similarly, if you're at the mall or at a friends place, have a plan for how to handle the situation - for instance, one warning then leaving. Make sure the child learns that defiance doesn't get him what he wants.<br />
<br />
In most cases, Oppositional Defiance Disorder is not the main problem. Usually it manifests itself into occasional defiance that isn't out of control, just bothersome and distracting to the family. But if ODD treatment is not taken, it can become the main issue and even turn into Conduct Disorder, a very serious disorder that precludes anti-social characteristics and involvement in crime. So if any of this sounds familiar, it would be a good idea to start on a course of action found in the Total Transformation program. I recommend it because me and my house are proof it works!</div><div class='uawresource'><div style='font-style:italic;' class='uawabout'><br />

This is a very disappointing result for the artist. Sometimes it can be because the artist has used too much turpentine as a medium, or may just be bad paintwork. Everybody has days where things do not go just as you intended. This is the challenge you face when you paint.<br />

Most artists would consider this a crucial part of their work. It definitely seems to give your work a lift. The glazing part has so many uses as the majority of people have come to realize over the years.<br />

So you need to bring your painting to life. Do not underestimate the value this process can give to your work. This can provide the ultimate glow you require for landscapes, skies, water, trees, mountains etc. You will find it brings out hidden depths. It will also serve on certain sections or just bring your whole piece together to it's conclusion.<br />

You can also go over your work with a layer of gel, sometimes I resort to this method. I find that I like very bright, strong colors. Red being one of my total favorites, so I find I am quite happy to put one very strong red over another. Just look in your palettes and have a go. <h2 class = 'uawtitle'>Catskill MT Thunder where NY Motorcycle Riders Gather</h2><div style='font-style:italic;' class='uawbyline'>by LJ James</div><div class='uawarticle'><br /> We all know that when the first settlers came to America they where following a dream! What most do not know is that many of those dreams where inspired by paintings of the Catskill Mountains. At the beginning of this country's history artists where mesmerized by the beauty of these mountains and painted many pictures of them. These pictures where sent and sold all over the world and they had a huge part in creating what later became know as the American dream. <br />
<br />
Fast forward a couple Hundred years to September 10th through the 14th 2008 and now what draws hundreds of American Bikers every year to the Catskill Mountains is the Blackthorne Resort in East Durham and the Catskill Mountain Thunder Motorcycle Rally. This event which is a weekend get away for some and a week long party for others has just about everything a biker dreams of. Even though the Blackthorne Resorts grounds are large, they do fill up fast and Bikers reserve there Cabins, RV sites or Camp sites up to a year in advance just to make sure there is room for them on the grounds. (There are plenty of other resorts in the area who welcome the Biker overflow from the Blackthorne) Me and my Brother Mopar Tom arrived on Thursday Night and the first thing We did was to check out what seemed like a million vendors, Who where selling every thing from Motorcycle stickers to Custom Motorcycles.Then of course it was time to grab some drinks. First drink was at the Tikki Bar by the large in ground pool. The Second was at the Blackthorne's on premise full service bar. Not wanting to over do it on my first night there (I would save that for my second night) I called it an early night at around 2am and was off to get some sleep. <br />
<br />
On Friday the fuse was lit and the weekend festivities got into full swing. I spent the day wandering around the Blackthorne checking ever thing out drinking and partying with Hundreds of new and old friends. As the sun went down and the Night began things just got better! I watched Bikers take their Motorcycles up in the air and do Ariel Burn outs as I listened to the Music of Molly Hatchet LIVE ! <br />
<br />
The Nights at Blackthorne Run late and the Mornings come early! Some Choose to start their days off riding around the incredible Catskill Mountains, either in a group on a guided tour or by themselves with no destination at all. The roads in the Catskills go on forever and even after many years of riding them each trip still offers something new ! My favorite spot to ride to has been for many years Nicks Waterfall House in Gilboa, In my opinion no ride threw the Catskills is Complete with out a burger and a beer at Nicks! <br />
<br />
Others who don't wake till the afternoon can spend their day's at the Blackthorne checking out the vendors buying new Biker gear, Watching Rhett Rotten and his amazing vintage Wall of Death Motorcycle stunt show, Looking at the art work of Ron Finch, Placing their votes for their favorites in the Bike show, participating in the Bike games or enjoying a list of many other wickedly fun Biker activities. Saturday Night again offered Bikers more then they could handle plus Hot Female Spaghetti Wrestling, Live Ultimate Fighting bouts, Lots more live music and plenty of late night partying. On Sunday some Bikers headed home while others hung around for another day of fun including a pig roast! <br />
<br />
I have been a biker all my life and to this day the bond of Brotherhood that is shared by bikers still amazes me. I'm not sure if the fact that the Blackthorne is a family resort every other week of the year has anything to do with it, But I found the feeling of Brotherhood and Family to be very strong at this event. When I can hangout and party with Bikers I have just met and feel like I have known them for Twenty years, It strongly reinforces all the reasons I love being a Biker! <br />

I have left out many great things about the Blackthorne and its Catskill Mountain Thunder Motorcycle Rally, The reason for this is because if you missed this event you do not deserve to know all its secrets until you have attended it for yourself !!!
