How To Identify A Forex Scam

by Jack Sawyer

The world of Forex is an exciting one in which there is indeed a lot of money to be made ? which has led to a lot of activity by those who would like nothing more than to make themselves a little wealthier by defrauding others in a Forex scam. Most Forex products and services are legitimate, but would-be investors need to be careful to protect themselves from these unscrupulous operators. Even legitimate Forex products and services do not guarantee success, so how can you know if a given opportunity is legitimate or a Forex scam?

1. Unrealistic claims

Now, anyone who has a Forex product or service to offer is going to try to appeal to your desire to make money. However, any company who tells you that you are guaranteed massive success overnight is not being honest ? steer clear of these offers.

2. Huge earnings on trading account screenshots

Forex sites typically will include screenshots of their system at work ? this is intended to convince you that you can make money with their product or service. Beware of screenshots showing enormous earnings; these are easy enough to fake with Photoshop and other software and difficult to detect.

Having screenshots does not necessarily indicate a Forex scam; but keep in mind that your mileage may vary ? so don't let these screenshots sway you in making a decision about Forex products or services. After all, these screenshots may have been taken by a person using a different system than the one promoted on the site.

3. No guarantee

There should always be a no-hassle money back guarantee. Don't go for any product or service in the Forex industry which makes you jump through hoops in order to avail yourself of their guarantee. These instructions they ask you to follow may include actions such as investing large sums of money which you do not have.

If you are buying a downloadable product such as an ebook or expert advisor, you can trust anything that is sold by Clickbank as far as refunds are concerned. Clickbank will always refund these items within 58 days of your purchase.

If it is instead a service or a membership site you're considering, keep in mind that the company may not provide refunds on services or payments you have already used. What you should be looking for here is the ability to cancel your membership at any time without having to pay any additional charges. Never sign any long term contracts for Forex products or services.

4. A Bad Reputation

All of these websites will gladly show you testimonials from satisfied users. However, you should ask for a way to contact these people - if this is a Forex scam, these "customers" may not be real.

Any Forex system, no matter how poorly conceived has probably made money for a few people who were simply lucky. What you want to know is how those who weren't happy with the product or service feel about it. You can search web forums to find out what unsatisfied users have said ? are they unhappy because they didn't instantly become rich, or is there something very wrong with the product or service? Find out what people are saying on forums ?this is the kind of research that can help you to avoid falling victim to a Forex scam.
