If there were one word to be used to describe how the average person feels, Id have to say it is loser. We dont feel we have the right job, income, mate, physique or anything else for that matter.

It doesnt seem to matter what we have accomplished in life. We seem to be trained from early on that we are never enough. Rich pop stars suicide, the average person groans under heavy loads of mediocrity and the poor languish in slums. Prosperity and happiness, it seems, are elusive.

Yes, you are not alone. Most people would give a lot to be in someone elses shoes. The grass truly does seem greener.

The three main types of scams that we are going to talk about is envelope filling, home assembly and chain letters or emails.

Envelope stuffing sounds so great. I remember when I was younger I got a letter that said they would pay me one dollar for every envelope I stuffed. I was so excited, send them to me and I will load you up. The offer was that they would send me 300 envelopes and letters, all I had to do was fill them and mail them. I couldn't wait. A week went buy and finally my 300 envelopes came. What a rip. They sent me 300 envelopes and 300 copies of the sales letter I had just received. The way it worked was I was to place an ad in the newspaper and require people to send me a dollar for postage for their free information. The information was the sales letter I got, and then if they were dumb enough to fall for it the company I paid was going to rake in $20 for the package.

Home assembly works the same way. I tried to do this too. I ordered a package for $20 for this duck light switch cover craft assembly. I paid about twenty dollars for it also. They sent all the supplies to make the switch covers, and they were going to pay me $3 for each one I made. The stupid assembly instructions were so complex that it took me 3 hours to make one that sucked, plus I still had to paint it, then get it to pass their quality control examination. Basically I could make about twenty bucks per day if I worked 24/7 and made these flawlessly. I gave up after I spent an hour sawing out the first one.

Chain Letters, I will say these never got me, but they are scams. No matter which you get that says to add your name to the list and then rearrange the information is a scam. Very few people will follow up on this and really do it. In reality most will just eliminate your name, add theirs and then mail out the letters. That's what I tried. I took someone's name off the list and sent out to a mass email list I had of opportunity seekers. I think I made a dollar. You get no money, your name is removed and the other person who did it gets no money either. They try to fix this by saying it doesn't work if you don't mail a dollar to every person above you, but I can tell you it doesn't work then either. How the heck is anybody going to know if you mailed a dollar to the person above you.

Anything in this world that sounds too good to be true almost certainly is, it is that simple. Keep a regular check on your parrots vent, which is located just under the tail feathers. It should be clean and dry, but if for any reason you discover that it is not clean and dry, then this could indicate a problem and a visit to the vet's is recommended.

A healthy Eclectus parrot grooms himself, and has smooth feathers. Overall, your parrot should have a smooth appearance. Grooming is very important to these birds, and if your Eclectus parrot appears to be disheveled, this is an indication of a problem. You may also notice that he is feather plucking, meaning that he is pulling his own feathers out. Even if the parrot is grooming himself, his feathers may not have a healthy look to them, and again, you should consult with a veterinarian.

A healthy Eclectus parrot has legs, feet, and a beak that are in good physical shape. You should check daily for dry and cracked feet, legs, and beaks. Also, make sure that you clip your bird's nails regularly, as this makes life much easier for him and for you.

Let me say that just so long as your parrot is getting the correct minerals and nutrients that he needs, any health problem that he might develop should quickly right itself. Often all that is needed is a slight change in diet.

However, having said that, let me make it clear that you should always seek the advice of a trained veterinarian if you are at all concerned about your parrots health. They have a trained eye for detecting when all is not well, and you would not be acting as a responsible Eclectus owner if you ignored them.

Always Keeping My Spanish Language Active

My first foreign language in school was Latin - a great language to prepare you for any university. But then we moved, and the only language offered was Spanish. I found Spanish more fun, because people in West Texas actually spoke it, where as Latin was mostly just reading and learning complex grammar.

My high school Spanish seemed to "stick", even though I'm always talking to people who have totally forgotten whatever language they learned in school. Perhaps they didn't have a true love for language, or perhaps they just never made opportunities to continue their studies.

In high school, I had part time jobs at a fast food place, and as a janitor. In both of these jobs, I was surrounded by Spanish speaking co-workers; so I picked up some Spanish that I cannot repeat in mixed company. But in general, it did help enforce the "proper" Spanish that I was learning in school.

Every summer, our Spanish teacher took a group to Mexico city. Travel is, of course, a great way to further one's language skills. I took lot's of pictures, created a scrapbook accompanied with an audio tape, and got three hours credit for the trip from a nearby community college.

When I went to college, I took CLEP tests - advanced placement tests for Spanish. They actually awarded me 14 college credits from my test results. Wow - that saved me one entire semester in college.

In college, I didn't major in Spanish, but almost got a minor. If I remember correctly, I had one class in conversational Spanish, and two classes in Spanish literature. I was also involved with Spanish Clubs and Honor Society on campus.

Later, when I was out in the working world, I did self self-study in French, Portugese, and Hebrew. I discovered the Pimsleur system and the government FSI courses (this was still 10 years before the internet!). I went on a couple of trips to Brazil, where I spoke probably butchered my limited Portugese with a lot of Spanish, but I could make myself understood.

In 1995, I was a consultant and got a job offer in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Being single and living by yourself is not the optimal way to learn more Spanish. But on the job, I was able to put a lot of Spanish to use, even though it wasn't a requirement.

After studying a few more languages, I have learned what works and what doesn't. I decided to create my own Spanish online learning community. We have several native Spanish speakers supporting our forum and creating short lessons.
