What Are The Benefits Of Small Weddings

By Jim Carpenter

There are many reasons why some couples prefer small weddings over the much larger and elaborate ones. Certainly a large wedding is something that you could end up still be paying for years after the event has taken place.

In recent years the number of people choosing to spend vast sums of money on lavish weddings because celebrities have is quite astounding. Yet smaller weddings are now coming back into fashion and certainly many people are seeing the advantages of having one. For those who want something a little more personal and intimate on their special day then a small wedding should be considered.

Just because you choose to have a small wedding does not mean you have to make it an informal, cheap or a simple one. The only real difference between a small and large wedding is the number of guests that have been invited to the special day.

When we talk about small weddings we are not talking about the location, or how much the food etc., costs we are talking about the number of guests that the bride and groom invite. These kinds of weddings are often restricted to close family members and friends of the couple who are getting married.

As the guest numbers for this kind of wedding are much less then the couple getting married can focus more of their energies into those parts of their special day that they feel are the most important, the wedding ceremony for example. Also sometimes because they only invite a limited number of people to the event they are not restricted to having it where they live but can choose to get married somewhere completely different.

More and more people who opt for a small wedding find there are lots of destinations around the world where such an event can take place. Along with the Caribbean, Las Vegas is becoming increasingly popular for a unique location where their wedding can take place. However, if you are after something a little more intimate and romantic then an old castle or mountain lodge may be the perfect setting for your small wedding.

For those who are on a tight budget and travelling is out of the question you can still make a small wedding on limited funds a very special day. Often a major cost of a wedding goes into hiring a room or booking a hotel for their reception, instead why not hold this at a family members home or at the bride and grooms favorite restaurant.

Small weddings can be as simple or as elaborate as the couple getting married want them to be. But what kind of small wedding they choose will depend on how much they are willing to spend on it. What they should remember however is that at the end of the day this is their special event and should be one that they and their guests will enjoy and remember with fondest in the future.
