So you now have you final list of companies to examine. Start by asking them all the same questions and really study how they respond. Does anyone get nervous or shifty when you start prying? If so that might be a good indication to watch out.
Finally, do your online due diligence. There are a lot of pro consumer sites on the web these days that report scams and alert people to potential pitfalls. Rip Off Report is a big one and there are others, so spend your time and get educated.
